Evening Dartmoor Walk

Every evening one of us gets out of the house with Stan the dog for a while for his evening walk. Yesterday was my chance to get out of the mad house and take him for a run on Dartmoor near to our house.

As i've said previously we are extremely lucky to live where we do and i think that these several photos probably prove my point!

The first was taken with a view over to Brentor. Brentor is quite well recognised due to the fact that there is a lovely church located on the top of the tor.

The second photo is of some of the local Dartmoor sheep. There are plenty of these little chaps all over Dartmoor and it's quite a pleasant sound and sight.

I don't think i really need to say much about the last photo which i though was just a cracking view and showed off why i feel so lucky to live on Dartmoor and in Devon.

We went for a short walk earlier today up onto the moors and we took the kids bikes with us. Our two younger children haven't really been that interested in learning to ride but we'd love them to so we can all go out.

Well today we took the bikes up and unfortunately as yet it sill hasn't clicked.

Shame really , but i forgot to take my phone with me so i was unable to take any photos. This evening however i took Stanley Dog up for a short walk and managed to get a couple of photos. The first was a picture of the evening sky complete with MOON!

The second photo is of the wonderful STANLEY DOG! Unfortunately this year Staney Dog was 11 years old and he's starting to look a little grey, like his owner!

What started as a cold and cloudy November day ended in beautiful sunshine and an ice cream at Burrator Reservoir.

The day started and it was quite dreary but as many other people who live on Dartmoor will tell you, it can quickly change. Within a few hours just after lunch the sun came out and it was very much like a summers day. So much that we ended up at Burrator Reservoir near Norsworthy Bridge.

At Norsworthy Bridge during good weather you'll often find an ice cream van. On this glorious day in November we found the ice cream van and all had one whilst wandering around the moorland next to the river.

It was a lovely afternoon!

Cadover Bridge

Cadover Bridge

Cadover Bridge is another of our favourite places on Dartmoor. You can find Cadover Bridge between Yelverton and Wotter. It's a very pleasant spot which can become quite busier during good weather.

There's a lovely car park at Cadover Bridge where you'll often be able to find an ice cream van and there is easy access into the river where children and dogs love to play and splash around in warm weather.

 In the photo above you can see the bridge over the river Plym!

Morwellham and Tamar Trails

Our eldest son decided during the summer that he wanted to go for a ride on his mountain bike and so i suggested that we go to the Morwellham and Tamar Trails.

We thought we'd take one of the easier routes and although he had great fun there were a few uphill areas which he struggled with a little.

The route we took was the Wheal Maria trail that can be seen on the plaque above indicated in green. We parked up at the car park and set off!

The views along the way and although it was a beautiful day it was a little warm at times so please ensure you take a drink if you do any of these trails.

We had a brilliant time and will no doubt be going back again soon!

We are really lucky to live where we do! Dartmoor lies right on our doorstep along with all of the benefits it brings including of course the wonderful animals.

Dartmoor ponies can be found all over Dartmoor and we have a fair few living on the moorland near to our home.

Whilst out walking the dog, i took these few photos!

Plaster Down is an area of moorland on Dartmoor near to Tavistock and it's an area that we regularly visit to take the dog for a walk or have a kick around with a football and the kids.

 

It's a lovely area of Dartmoor with plenty of space and is very popular with families and dog walkers.
